MCSS
MCSS was founded by North Vancouver residents to practice and promote stewardship of the natural ecosystems which support indigenous wildlife and vegetation within the watershed of Mosquito Creek and its tributaries - Thain, Wagg and Mission.
Volunteers include environmental professionals and interested individuals who bring a wide range of experience.
MCSS OBJECTIVES
  • Protection, assessment, restoration, coordination.
  • Promote cooperative watershed management and provide communication links.
  • Assist volunteer projects.
MCSS PROJECTS
  • Inspection and maintenance of the GVRD fish ladder since 1996.
  • Annual Salmon Spawner Surveys on Mosquito Creek and Thain Creek (1995-2006).
  • Habitat monitoring and assessment.
  • Mapping and land use evaluation.
  • Liaison between community groups, government agencies and other stakeholders.
  • Mosquito Creek Watershed Awards
    Recipients are recognized for volunteer work and achievements which contribute to protection and restoration of the Mosquito Creek Watershed.
The Mosquito Creek Stewardship Society is a registered
non-profit society in the province of British Columbia.
