NON-GOVERNMENT ORGANIZATIONS

Some projects require more people over a longer period of time. In that case, an organization can help coordinate, deal with logistics, and arrange for materials or equipment.
The Evergreen Foundation, in cooperation with the City of North Vancouver, has organized monthly volunteer work days in Mahon Park since November 2002. Since then, they have removed huge amounts of invasive non-native plants such as English Ivy and Himalayan Blackberry from the park, and replanted with native plants.
The Mosquito Creek Stewardship Society has been inspecting and maintaining the GVRD fish ladder year-round since 1996. They also carried out annual spawner surveys on Mosquito Creek and Thain Creek from 1996 to 2006.
Local businesses have organized creek clean-ups and removed items which had been dumped into the creek - chairs, filing cabinets, carpet.
THANK YOU.
