FISH COUNTS

Fish counts are done to determine which species inhabit a stream or section of stream, and to estimate each species population size.
There are different methods, depending on whether the fish are adults or immatures.
Fish counts require a permit from Fisheries and Oceans Canada, and/or from the B.C. Ministry of Environment.
In the Mosquito Creek watershed, fish counts have included Salmon Spawner Surveys, Fry Surveys, and General Fish Counts.
